I read the 2nd book first because it was well written and the subject was interesting I ordered the 1st and this as the last of this series. The characters are interesting and so real. lol I couldn't stop reading until the end. I started with another free kindle book Crossing Worlds (The Rise of the Aztecs) which continues but realized it is the 2nd book of that series...agh! Yet each book regardless of the order enables you to read it. if you choose, with some knowledge of what occurred in the previous book. I have thoroughly enjoyed this book as well as all the others and will order the 1st book of Crossing Worlds series to find out how Mino ended up where she is...lol A great book and hope to see it in film. Mel Gibson did a great job with a movie covering this time and people, this book lends itself to being another great movie dealing more with the people,relationships and their way of life. This book as are the others are fast reads, the editing is good some errors but very few.Product details

An excellent novel written about the misty era of pre-history, where the roots of a legendary empire are growing. An wonderful continuation of the previous two novels, Zoe Saadia writes vividly of the Aztec's growing power in a world of already old and powerful entities in Central Mexico. The characters and encounters come to life and draw the reader into a world of intrigue, action, and bits of romance that leave them craving more.
As soon as I fined book 1 I purchased book 2 and was not disappointed. This was a quick and easy read. Book 1 needs to be read so you will understand the relationship between the characters.
Book two of the Pre Aztec series bring you into a whole new world and aspect of the times. The struggles and hardships are portayed wonderfully in the story line.
For me, this series is getting even better because it is defying my expectations. ;) I was so sure that Atolli and the princess were going to get together, but then she was just plain awful and I felt no sympathy for her whatsoever and I was going to be upset if they DID get together, and ... phew... the romance was focused on Mino and Mectal with me cheering them on... ;)
Anyway, the historical aspects are fascinating, focusing on the rise of the Aztec's w/Atolli clearly going to be the mastermind of the empire of the next book (I hope, anyway!) which I'm looking forward to, but this one was a great read, focusing on how Chictli let bitterness twist her and how Atolli rises to become his own man, and HAPPILY walking away from that crazy princess... I just hope he stays far, faaaaaaar away... ;) He's growing up nicely and deserves a sweet,sassy gal... not some pschyo princess...heheehehehehe...
Anyway, this is a great series and I highly recommend it.
I enjoyed reading this entire trilogy. I found The history of Pre-Aztec Mexico to be very good reading. The characters are interesting and well drawn. These were what I call "page turners" . I could hardly wait to see what would happen next. This is a compelling story of the power of human love,no matter what the era. Some of the battle scenes are pretty blood thirsty,but I still enjoyed reading this series.
Finally a well written and obviously well researched historical fiction novel on native American historey. History buffs have always been able to read about knights in shining armor but very little has been written using the native American pre-Columbian cultures. Zoe Saadia has ventured into a "new" area and has done an excellent job. Informative as well as entertaining.
if you like historical fiction ( i do) you will really enjoy this whole series. i just finished the last book and i really wish there were more. i enjoyed every one. not heavy reading but pretty accurate facts (as far as we know) about a civilization that was incredibly advanced. unfortunately the spanish destroyed most of the written works. these people wrote poetry, practiced engineering and used many art forms.
